According to Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness, Newcastle United are believed to be leading the race for the signature of Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian striker is expected to be on the move this summer and the Magpies are the most likely destination for him in England at this point.
Vlahovic made a name for himself while playing for Fiorentina. His consistent performances put him on the radar of Juventus, who worked out a significant fee to add him to their squad at the start of 2022.
While he didn’t have the best of starts to life at the Turin-based club, the 25-year-old has been a consistent performer for them over the last few seasons. In the ongoing campaign, he has been involved in a total of 39 matches and has contributed towards 19 goals (14 goals, 5 assists).
Despite his impressive performances in recent seasons and his massive potential, Vlahovic appears set to part ways with Juventus. While the Old Lady are reluctant to lose him, they don’t have many options to work with.
He will enter the final year of his contract in the summer, and with no new deal in sight, this could be the Turin-based club’s last chance to cash in. They certainly don’t want to risk losing him on a free transfer.
With the Serbian likely to be available for cut-price, multiple top clubs are ready to make the most out of it. Newcastle United are one of the clubs that have emerged as a potential destination for the 25-year-old.
The Magpies have taken giant strides under Eddie Howe and in order to continue in a similar fashion, they want to add more quality to their ranks. They seek more firepower in the final third and consider Vlahovic an ideal option to further bolster their squad.
The Tyneside club are the front-runner at this stage, but they are likely to face strong competition for his signature. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether the deal hinges on Alexander Isak’s future, as the striker has been linked with a move away from Newcastle for some time now.
