According to a report from L’Équipe, Angers SCO forward Ibrahima Niane (26) has been banned from football for two years after he was found to have tested positive for ecstasy and MDMA.
The decision was made on the 31st of March after the forward was unable to justify to the French Anti-Doping body why these drugs were present within his system, and the ban is dated from that same date. He will not be allowed to participate in football in any professional capacity, and will be banned from training and also training courses.
The striker who has previously played for FC Metz was coming to the end of his contract at Angers in June and had not been given an offer of a contract extension.Last season, he played thirty times for the club in their promotion bid from Ligue 2, however, he finished the campaign without scoring a league goal. This year, he bettered that tally, playing 27 times and scoring three goals in the league as Angers maintained their place in the top flight of French football.
