Real Madrid unlikely to launch big-money move for Enzo Fernandez

Real Madrid are reportedly unlikely to sanction a big-money move for Chelsea midfield mainstay Enzo Fernandez this summer.

According to an update by Ben Jacobs, Chelsea have no intention of parting ways with Enzo Fernandez despite links with European giants Real Madrid. The Blues consider him an integral part of their plans, and only a crazy offer could change their mind. While Los Blancos have the financial might, they are unlikely to launch a big-money move for the Argentine international.

Fernandez made a name for himself while playing for River Plate and SL Benfica. His sensational rise had caught the attention of quite a few top clubs. But Chelsea ended up winning the race for his signature. The Blues forked out a massive €121 million to add him to their squad at the start of 2023.

The 24-year-old established himself as a key figure in the team in no time and has only gone from strength to strength since. Fernandez has been involved in a total of 44 fixtures this season and has contributed towards 20 goals (7 goals, 13 assists).

Real Madrid want to sign Enzo Fernandez

While the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner prefers playing as a central midfielder, he is equally effective in an advanced role as well as a defensive one. His consistent performances and massive potential have put him on the radar of Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants already have a star-studded squad, but they are constantly on the lookout for players who could further bolster their ranks. They certainly need more quality in midfield, having struggled to cope with Toni Kroos’s departure. With Luka Modric also likely to leave, Enzo Fernandez could prove to be a valuable addition.

Chelsea do not intend to negotiate his departure

Enzo Fernandez is quite highly rated by people at the Spanish club, and they would love to sign him this summer. However, Real Madrid are unlikely to get their hands on the Argentine World Cup winner as his contract with Chelsea runs until the summer of 2032, and they have no intentions of letting him leave.

The Blues consider him a very important part of their project, and they do not plan on negotiating his departure. The West London club have not set an asking price as they are not even considering the option of him leaving.

Having paid around €121 million for the World Cup winner, any offer certainly has to be north of that figure for Chelsea to even start a conversation. While Real Madrid are quite keen on his signature, they are unlikely to sanction that big a fee to prise him away from the Premier League club.
