Nottingham Forest considering Jarell Quansah swoop

Nuno Espírito Santo’s Nottingham Forest are considering making a move for Liverpool defensive sensation Jarell Quansah.

According to Mick Brown via Football Insider, Nottingham Forest have their eyes set on Jarell Quansah as they look to add more quality to their backline. The Tricky Trees are set to feature in Europe next season and Nuno Espirito Santo wants to ensure he has enough quality in his squad to compete on both fronts.

The Portuguese manager is set to prioritise reinforcing his defence and Liverpool’s Quansah is quite high on their wishlist. The 22-year-old is keen on having regular first-team action and a move to Nottingham could do wonders for his growth as a player.

Mick Brown on Jarell Quansah’s future

While speaking to Football Insider about the English centre-back’s future, the former Manchester United scout said: “Nottingham Forest are one of the sides interested in Quansah,”

“Whether it’s a permanent move or a loan, they want to do a deal.

“If he’s not playing regularly, he’s missing a key part of his development.

“From what I hear, Liverpool and the manager would be willing to let him go on loan, and a loan spell is exactly what he needs.

“He needs to play regularly in the Premier League, and there is no shortage of interest in him, so he can develop his game and get used to starting at the top level.

“Going to somewhere like Nottingham Forest would be good for him.

“He would have to be part of a team and a unit where each performance really matters.

“At Liverpool, you can get away with things you may not elsewhere because you’ve got the likes of Van Dijk and Salah to get you out of trouble.

“At Forest, he’d have to step up and be counted, which would be good for his game.

“They want to strengthen their squad to prepare for competing in Europe, and he’s on their radar.“

Quansah’s time at Liverpool

Quansah has come up the ranks at Liverpool and has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2023. Over the last two seasons, the 22-year-old has only been involved in a total of 58 matches. He has been on the pitch for a limited amount of time and it certainly hasn’t helped his growth as a player.

In the ongoing campaign, he could only rack up 1,290 minutes of first-team football in his 25 outings. While the English centre-back wants to succeed at Anfield, he is not happy with his limited game time. His contract at the Merseyside club runs until the summer of 2029 but he seems open to a move away in search of a more prominent role.

Nottingham Forest could make a move for Quansah

Nottingham have emerged as a potential destination for the youngster. The Tricky Trees are 7th on the table heading into the final fixture of the season against Chelsea. A win against the Blues could help them secure a spot in the Champions League. If not the UCL, they are certain to be involved in one of the European competitions.

As a result, Nuno Espirito Santo is already looking at the market for opportunities to further bolster his squad. He wants more depth and quality in his defence and feels someone like Quansah could help his cause. While he prefers playing as a centre-back, he could even chip in as a right-back when needed.

The Tricky Trees are open to a permanent as well as a loan deal. The player is keen on playing regular first-team football, and as a result, he might prefer joining them. Meanwhile, Liverpool have him in their long-term plans, they do not want to sanction his departure but they would be willing to let him leave on loan.

A move to a club like Nottingham could be just the perfect opportunity for the player to test himself regularly at the highest level. If Nuno Espirito Santo’s team do make a move to sign him on loan, there are high chances of this going through.
