Ligue 1 club AJ Auxerre have announced the contract extension of head coach Christophe Pélissier. Pélissier is now tied with the Yonne side over a deal set to expire in 2027. His new deal includes an option to trigger a further year. The former FC Lorient head coach joined Auxerre in 2022. Auxerre opted to stick with Pélissier despite a Ligue 2 relegation in 2023. It turned out very well for them. Auxerre went on to win the 2023-2024 Ligue 2 championship, and, despite a shoestring budget, Pélissier defied the odds with an eleventh-place finish in Ligue 1.

Pélissier’s achievement these past seasons arguably ranks him as one of France’s finest managers. “I’m very happy to continue the journey and this project”, Pélissier said. “We’ve just been promoted and we’ve had a quality year in Ligue 1. We now hope to continue these performances at this level! Club president Baptiste Malherbe lauded the 59-year-old and his coaching staff for their excellent job at Stade Abbé-Deschamps. “We’ve just had two very successful seasons, and this contract extension is part of our commitment to continuity and stability, in order to continue our progress.”
