According to Caught Offside, Alejandro Garnacho could be in with the chance to reunite with his former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman, now at Bayer Leverkusen could push for the Argentine’s signing, as the German giants face competition from plenty of clubs including Aston Villa.
It’s been a telling few weeks in Alejandro Garnacho’s Manchester United career. He was dropped for the Europa League final, as the Arhentine and manager Rubenn Amorim have had few words exchanged via the media, with the pair’s relationship already broken.
Amorim has told Garnacho to find a new club, and it might even benefit Manchester United in their quest to raise funds for new players. The proceeds from the Argentine’s sale will be considered pure profit from PSR’s perspective, which will be great for the club, especially if they can get a hefty fee from his departure.
Napoli are also pushing for Garnacho, as they have been since January when they were pushing to get a deal done with Manchester United. Aston Villa are also in the mix, as Unai Emery eyes change that would ensure the squad is at a competitive level, although they are also in danger of losing a few stars due to the financial constraints brought about by the failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Bayer Leverkusen were interested in Garnacho, and now after the appointment of former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag as Xabi Alonso’s successor, the links have grown big. The Dutchman was responsible for grooming the Argentine for the player he is today, as Manchester United’s loss could be seen as Leverkusen’s gain ahead of the coming period.
Leverkusen will be active in the market once they make the Florian Wirtz sale. The German star is closing on a move to Liverpool as per multiple reports, and after that, the club will have sizeable funds to buy new players. Ten Hag potentially views the Manchester United whizkid as a replacement for Wirtz as Leverkusen want a loan deal initially, although the Devils are pushing for a permanent solution.
The issue for Leverkusen would be the competition for the Argentine star, as Aston Villa and more notably, Italian champions Napoli are pushing to sign him. Ten Hag could be a trump card for Leverkusen to prise away the Manchester United whizkid, as the race for the attacker could heat up in the upcoming window.
