Serie A giants Inter have been linked with a move for Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund and that interest has now been confirmed by CEO Beppe Marotta.
In the last two days, there has been talk of contact being made between the Red Devils and Inter over a move for the Dane and chief executive Piero Ausilio has spoken to the entourage of the striker, who is said to be open to a move to the Nerazzurri in the summer.
Now, Marotta was asked about the club’s interest in Hojlund and Parma’s Ange Yoan Bonny. In a chat with TMW at the Serie A festival today, he said: “We have been working, in particular Ausilio and Baccin, for months on what could be possible adjustments, we know that the offensive department is the one that receives the most attention. The names you have made can be included in a list of other names that will be the subject of investigation and possible negotiations.”
The Italian was also asked about the exit of Simone Inzaghi, who has joined Al Hilal already and is likely to be replaced by Cristian Chivu soon.
Marotta said: “In the world of football there is this unpredictability, not only on the pitch. Inzaghi’s decision was partly predictable, we tried in every way to convince him, it wasn’t possible, so at this point it was right that our paths separated. He has started a new experience, we can only thank him for the excellent work done, we look forward with optimism, we are Inter. We were brave in the new choice, and we are determined to want to give the fans other beautiful evenings.”
He was also asked about the decision to hire Chivu and whether that is an attempt to downsize on the resources at hand.
“We are very happy with this symbiosis, proud of this choice. I want to deny the rumors that speak of downsizing, we must erase these nouns. Every time Inter participates in a competition, it must do so to reach the top, we are aware of this. We know that the team is strong, it will be led by a young, courageous coach. Just as the club was courageous in choosing him.”
Inter play in the FIFA Club World Cup next week and it would kickstart Chivu’s journey as the manager for the club.
