Arsenal taking concrete steps to sign Jamie Gittens

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are working hard to beat Chelsea to the signature of Borussia Dortmund attacking sensation Jamie Gittens.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Arsenal have their eyes set on Jamie Gittens as they look to reinforce the left side of their attack ahead of next season. The Gunners are taking concrete steps to sign Borussia Dortmund star and beat Chelsea to his signature in the process.

Gittens has only gone from strength to strength since joining Dortmund from Manchester City back in 2020. He got promoted to their first team in 2022 and hasn’t looked back since. While he has been doing wonders for the German club on the pitch and still has three years left on his deal, his departure looks almost certain amidst interest from the Premier League.

The 20-year-old wants to secure a return to his homeland and the Bundesliga giants are ready to sell as long as their asking price of €60 million is met. Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been working very hard to sign the youngster.

The Blues want more quality on the flanks following the return of Jadon Sancho, the potential departure of Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk’s ban. They consider Gittens an ideal fit for their project and already have an agreement in place with the English youth international over a seven-year-long deal.

Arsenal looking to win the race for Gittens

While the London club were pushing to secure his services prior to the start of the Club World Cup, things didn’t go according to plan. The move collapsed and it has given an opportunity to rivals Arsenal to enter the race for his signature.

The Blues remain in talks with Dortmund but the Gunners are planning to hijack the deal. Mikel Arteta wants a new option on the left flanks as Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have struggled for consistency of late. While they were linked with Rodrygo Goes and Nico Williams, both those deals look highly unlikely at this stage.

As a result, the Gunners have shifted their focus towards Dortmund’s Gittens. He is highly appreciated by Arteta and they are holding internal discussions regarding making a move for him.

The North London club are taking concrete steps to sign him. The 20-year-old can certainly prove to be a valuable addition to their squad but they will have to beat long-term admirers Chelsea to his signature.
