Lille reach agreement in principle with Olivier Giroud

Lille OSC are on the verge of sealing a blockbuster move for former France international centre-forward Olivier Giroud (38). According to Foot Mercato, Les Dogues have reached an agreement in principle with the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker. Giroud has joined MLS franchise Los Angeles FC from AC Milan last year. The 38-year-old only logged five goals in 37 games played with the Wings.

Giroud’s contract with LAFC is due to expire next December, but the former France international is in talks over a contract termination. Lille have made their move and convinced Giroud to make his return in Ligue 1, twelve years after leading Montpellier to a shock maiden title. Giroud is set to sign a one-year deal with an option to trigger a further year. Bruno Genesio’s side was in the market for a centre-forward after Jonathan David ran down his contract.
