Harvey Elliot seems keen on making a move away from Liverpool this summer as he seeks a more prominent role. According to Graeme Bailey via TBR Football, the Reds are not actively looking to offload him but would consider offers between £40-50 million.
Elliot has been doing wonders for the Under-21 England side at the European Championship. He has been their standout performer, helping them book a place in the final. While the Englishman has been doing wonders on the international stage, things have not been that great for him at Liverpool of late. He joined the Merseyside club back in 2019 and got promoted to the first team back in 2021.
People at Anfield are well aware of Harvey Elliott’s potential, and they do appreciate his talent, but he is not getting enough game time. Last season, he was involved in 28 matches and racked up just 821 minutes of first-team action. Arne Slot simply could not find a regular spot for him in his XI.
That is unlikely to change next season as well; as a result, Elliott seems to be actively pushing for a move away from the club. He still has two years left on his deal, and Liverpool are in no rush to let him leave. However, they are open to listening to offers and would want a fee somewhere in between £40-50 million.
While speaking to TBR Football about Harvey Elliot’s future, Bailey said, “I’ve been told Elliott’s asking price is closer to £50m than £40m at the moment. Liverpool got nearly £30m for [Fabio] Carvalho last summer and are asking for £30m for [Ben] Doak, so on that scale you can see why they would be wanting well in excess of £40m for Elliott.
“But Liverpool are not in a hurry to sell at all, they know what a good player Elliott is and I think it’s more the player pushing to go in a World Cup year — if he goes somewhere and has a great year he could be in contention for England, stranger things have happened.
“Brighton have played down their interest, they’ve got a lot of options in those areas. But with Joao Pedro leaving, does that increase Elliott’s chances? I suspect it does. Elliott’s former club Fulham are also in the mix and Newcastle are interested too, there’s an awful lot of clubs who like him.”
Harvey Elliot is keen on having regular game time next season with the World Cup coming up. He seems ready to part ways with Liverpool, and there is no shortage of interest in his services. Newcastle are one of the clubs that are interested in signing, and they are closely monitoring his situation at the Merseyside club.
Eddie Howe is keen on adding more creativity to his squad, and Elliot could certainly help his cause. His ability to feature as a number ten as well as on the right flank could give the manager more options to work with.
With the 22-year-old struggling to get regular minutes, the Tyneside club are waiting for the opportunity to try and prise him. Given the quality of the player, he can certainly have an important role in Howe’s team. However, signing him won’t be that straightforward, as Liverpool are tough to negotiate with.
