Liverpool discussing new contract with Owen Beck amid exit links

Liverpool are in talks with 22-year-old left-back Owen Beck over a new deal before sending him out on another loan spell elsewhere.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are not eager to lose Owen Beck for close to nothing as the club are engaged in talks with the defender over a new deal. The 22-year-old wide player is into the final year of his deal, as the Reds are eager to tie him down to a longer-term contract before sending him out on loan once again.

Liverpool have made a big splash in this transfer window, and brought in key personnel needed in essential positions. They might end the summer market with the biggest transfer of them all as they agreed on a deal to bring Florian Wirtz for over £100 million from Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool also agreed a deal for Milos Kerkez to begin a new era for the left-back position. The Hungarian’s arrival does leave considerable doubts about the futures of the other players in the role namely Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson.

Robertson has already approved a move to Atletico Madrid while Liverpool are also considering selling Tsimikas if the right offer arrives. Some might think should the two experienced full-backs leave, it might open the doors for 22-year-old Owen Beck, who will return to the club following a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers last season.

Liverpool are in talks with Beck over a new deal given his current agreement ends in 2026. The plan is to allow the player to leave once again on loan, as the 22-year-old wide player is still not seen as capable of competing for the left-back position with Kerkez. However, the idea of his immediate departure also potentially signals the club’s intent to keep hold of one of their other two full-backs.

Owen Beck has big interest

Beck has made a sufficient impact on many clubs including a few from the Championship as well as Scottish giants Rangers. Ruben Selles wants him at the club and will urge the club to open talks with Liverpool over a deal for the 22-year-old wide player.

Elsewhere in the Championship, newly promoted side Wrexham are keen on signing him and use Beck’s experience in the tier to help them through the season. Derby County are the other team in the mix, meaning the 22-year-old will have the chance to continue his career in the second tier, although, should he refuse to sign a new deal, he will most certainly move out permanently.
