According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham were keen on signing Antoine Semenyo in the summer transfer window. However, the Bournemouth winger committed his long-term future to the Premier League club instead of waiting for the London giants. The Cherries valued the Ghanaian international at around £70 million.
Antoine Semenyo has seen his stock soar since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023. The London-born winger took to the Premier League like a fish to water, and he has come leaps and bounds in the last two and a half years, establishing himself as a pivotal figure in the final third for the Cherries.
The 25-year-old was exceptional in the 2024/25 season, contributing to 20 goals in 42 outings in all competitions by finding the back of the net 13 times and providing seven assists. Meanwhile, Semenyo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Ghanaian international has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. The interest makes sense, considering the Gunners have become increasingly over-dependent on Bukayo Saka’s productivity in the final third. So, Semenyo has been a viable target for the North London outfit.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Antoine Semenyo may have cooled after securing an agreement to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window. Nevertheless, the Bournemouth winger’s versatility made him an appealing target for Chelsea, although the asking price of £70 million was excessive.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the North London club, and Timo Werner has returned to RB Leipzig after a horrendous loan spell. So, Tottenham must sign a wide attacker this summer, with Semenyo emerging as a viable target for the Lilywhites. However, he has signed a new contract with Bournemouth.
With Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham taking their time to launch the offensive to sign Semenyo, the 25-year-old Ghanaian international lost patience and committed his long-term future to the Premier League club. So, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham must look elsewhere for a new wide attacker.
