Juventus Eye Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham Midfielders

Juventus plot to bring in a midfielder once they’ve sorted out the future of Douglas Luiz, and they have set sights on Granit Xhaka, who was pursued by Milan in recent weeks. Their outcast has been linked to Como lately, but there’s not much there. A Premier League return could be in the cards for him, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).

In addition to the Bayer Leverkusen veteran, the Bianconeri are tracking Wilfred Ndidi, who can leave for €10M following Leicester City’s relegation, Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma, Benfica’s Florentino Luis, and Sporting CP’s Morten Hjulmand, who’s pricey, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

Juventus had been keeping tabs on Sandro Tonali in the months leading up to the summer window but haven’t found an opening. It takes a €60/70M bid to even start a conversation with Newcastle United. Davide Frattesi is less expensive, but he’s not for sale.

The Old Lady would have to offer €12/15M to grab the Swiss talisman, who might depart after the end of the Xabi Alonso era. Bissouma costs a bit more. Plus, he’s an extra-EU player. Jonathan David filled one of the only two spots for those signings.

Our Take on the Juventus Midfield

The Douglas Luiz mess won’t be easy to solve and will probably force them to wait before making an addition. A commanding regista who can pull the strings would really lift them. Considering they don’t have many veterans, Xhaka would be more useful to them than to Milan after signing Luka Modric already.

At some point, they’ll have to decide about Teun Koopmeiners, who played deeper earlier in his career. He’s worked wonders as a no.10 at Atalanta, but Igor Tudor’s scheme runs better with two speedsters behind the striker. A role change might revitalize him.
