Yoane Wissa open to Tottenham move as Spurs plot summer deal

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old DR Congo international Yoane Wissa from fellow Premier League club Brentford in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by reputed BBC journalist Sami Mokbel, Yoane Wissa is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Brentford centre-forward has emerged as a target for the North London outfit.

The 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners are “weighing up financials attached to the deal” as they look to secure his services in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Villeneuve-Saint-George native is open to joining Tottenham, thus boosting the North London club’s prospects.

Yoane Wissa and his progress at Brentford

Yoane Wissa has made considerable progress since joining Brentford from FC Lorient in August 2021. The French-born striker hit the ground running at the West London club but became an undisputed first-choice starter during Ivan Toney’s spell on the sidelines due to a betting ban. Toney’s departure last summer helped him gain more prominence at Brentford.

The 28-year-old was exceptional in the 2024/25 campaign, amassing 20 goals and five assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, the DR Congo international has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs with his exploits for Brentford. Tottenham Hotspur will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Move across London beckons?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Yoane Wissa is somewhat confusing yet understandable. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a striker this summer after Dominic Solanke blew hot and cold in his debut season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. So, with the North London outfit embarking on a campaign in the UEFA Champions League, they must sign another striker.

Wissa has thus emerged as a viable target for Tottenham, and the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners are “weighing up financials attached to the deal”. Meanwhile, the French-born striker is ready to leave Brentford, and he is open to joining Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

While Wissa’s stance has boosted Tottenham’s prospects, convincing Brentford to part ways with the 28-year-old DR Congo international will be a tall order. With Bryan Mbeumo’s long-term future also uncertain, the Bees would prefer not to sell their two most prolific attackers in the same window.
