According to a report by Italian outlet Sport Italia, El Hadji Malick Diouf is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a left-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 20-year-old Slavia Praha full-back has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.
However, the West Yorkshire outfit will face stiff competition from West Ham United for the African full-back’s signature in the summer transfer window. In addition, Diouf is a target for Serie A giants Atalanta, with La Dea vigilant and “ready to make a move if the right opportunity arises”.
El Hadji Malick Diouf has established himself as one of the most promising young left-backs in the world since moving to Europe in February 2023. The youngster has been with Slavia Praha since January 2024 and has gone from strength to strength in the last 18 months.
Diouf has turned out 50 times thus far for Slavia Praha while chipping in with nine goals and four assists. Meanwhile, the youngster has also broken into the Senegalese national squad, and his progress has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. West Ham United and Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
West Ham United’s interest in El Hadji Malick Diouf makes sense. The Hammers are scouring the market for a left-back after parting ways with Aaron Cresswell. In addition, Emerson Palmieri faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium. So, the Slavia Praha whizkid has emerged as a target for West Ham, with the youngster keen on joining the East London outfit.
As for Leeds United, Junior Firpo has departed from Elland Road as a free agent, compelling the West Yorkshire outfit to comb the market for a left-back. So, several candidates, including Nuno Tavares, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Diouf also a viable target. Meanwhile, the 2004-born full-back is also on Atalanta’s wishlist.
With West Ham United and Leeds United facing stiff competition from a club that can offer UEFA Champions League football, the Serie A giants may have the upper hand. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 20-year-old Senegalese international.
