Leeds United eyeing Jeremie Boga swoop

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 21-cap Ivory Coast international Jeremie Boga from Ligue 1 club OGC Nice in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Africa Foot, Jeremie Boga is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old OGC Nice winger has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.

The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners have already made their move by submitting a bid worth €15 million to the Ligue 1 club. Meanwhile, the Ivorian attacker is open to returning to the Premier League, as he feels he has unfinished business in England after failing to make his mark for Chelsea, thus boosting Leeds United’s prospects.

Jeremie Boga and his Ligue 1 adventure

Jeremie Boga has come leaps and bounds since joining OGC Nice from Atalanta in July 2023. A native of Marseille, the 28-year-old winger began his youth career in his hometown but graduated from the youth division at Chelsea. However, he could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge and rose in prominence during his spell in Italy.

The 21-cap Ivory Coast international has turned out over 50 times thus far for OGC Nice while chipping in with nine goals and seven assists. Meanwhile, Boga’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Leeds United’s interest in Jeremie Boga is understandable. The Whites are scouring the market for a wide attacker this summer as they struggle to complete a permanent move for Tottenham Hotspur outcast Manor Solomon. While Daniel James, Largie Ramazani, and Wilfried Gnonto are top-notch options, Daniel Farke wants more firepower in the final third.

So, several wide attackers, including Timothy Weah, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Boga also a viable target. The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners have already launched the offensive to sign the former Chelsea winger, submitting a bid worth €15 million to land the 28-year-old Ivorian from OGC Nice.

However, it is unclear if the Ligue 1 outfit will accept a bid worth €15 million to part ways with Boga. Meanwhile, the 21-cap Ivory Coast international is open to joining Leeds United, and it will be interesting to see if the former Chelsea winger returns to the Premier League anytime soon.
