It was only last summer that Conor Gallagher made his protracted move to Atletico Madrid amid some drama in the process. The England international was added by Diego Simeone for his energetic displays in midfield, but as the season wore down, the Argentine coach has preferred him in fewer games.
With a place in England’s World Cup squad at stake, the former Chelsea star must feature regularly ahead of the new campaign. Whether he has a chance to do so at Atletico Madrid remains the question, given Simeone has already signed Johnny Cardoso and Alex Baena to improve their midfield setup.
