According to Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth are confident of sealing the transfer of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic after submitting an official offer. The Cherries have identified the Chelsea man as the viable choice for the No.1 position, with the Serb’s approval and personal terms already in place.
Djordje Petrovic proved his worth with a steady loan at RC Strasbourg last season after starting many games for Chelsea in the previous campaign. The goalkeeper is not thought to be in Chelsea’s plans ahead of the new season, and the West London club could sell the Serbian internationa.
Petrovic accumulated ten clean sheets last season in Ligue 1, which placed him the fourth-best keeper by that metric. The Chelsea outcast is seeking regular action at the top level, and as things stand, his next destination might be within the Premier League.
Chelsea reportedly value Petrovic at £25 million or thereabouts, as per Graeme Bailey on TBR Football. Whether that is the level of money some of the suitors would be open to paying remains the question. Sunderland were interested in Djordje Petrovic, although it is Bournemouth who are closing in on the keeper.
The Cherries were keen to keep Kepa Arrizabalaga following a successful loan; however, their interest fell off, and the Spaniard has since joined Arsenal on a permanent deal. Bournemouth have since ramped up efforts to sign Petrovic, and they remain confident of getting the deal done for the £25 million-rated Chelsea outcast.
Bournemouth have made a bid for Petrovic, and while Chelsea have not given a clear answer, the decision is expected in the coming period. The Cherries are optimistic about signing the Serbian goalkeeper, with the player himself approving of the switch to the south coast club.
Personal terms are already in place over a long-term deal with Andoni Iraola’s side, as everything will now depend on Chelsea’s decision. A bid could be accepted if it is in the region the Blues are demanding, as they will want good value for Djordje Petrovic, who has a bright future ahead.
