Arsenal, Manchester United rival Everton, Tottenham in Scott McTominay race

Arsenal and Manchester United are ready to battle Everton and Tottenham in their pursuit of Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Manchester United graduate hasn’t looked back since leaving Old Trafford in the summer of 2024. Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but his impressive performances have resulted in a lot of talk about a potential return to the Premier League.

McTominay has redefined his career at the Italian club, and thanks to his work, some of the biggest clubs are after his signature. According to a report from TEAMtalk, Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton, and Tottenham are all keen on bringing him back to the English top flight.

While he would love to secure a return to his childhood club, the 28-year-old will weigh up all the options at his disposal before making a call. He would only push to leave Napoli for the right project.

McTominay has been in sensational form since moving to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in 2024 in a deal worth €30 million. While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, he has played in a variety of positions over the last 18 months and has done a great job.

He has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world. The 28-year-old’s relentless energy, aerial prowess, and late-arriving goals have lit up the Italian top flight. His performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

Premier League giants want to bring McTominay back

While his contract at Napoli runs until the summer of 2028, multiple top clubs are ready to try to prise him away. Former club Manchester United are one of those that are keen on his signature. They have already held talks with his camp regarding a potential move.

Ruben Amorim is desperate to have a new central midfielder, and McTominay might be exactly the type of player he wants to better implement his style.  Mikel Arteta is also looking for more quality in the centre of the park, and McTominay, with his wealth of experience, could come in handy.

Both Arsenal and United are set to rival Everton and Tottenham. The Toffees have had a mixed start to the season, and bringing him a proven star like McTominay could completely transform their season. Meanwhile, Thomas Frank isn’t pleased with the options in midfield.

He wants an upgrade on current options, and the United graduate could certainly help their cause. While the four Premier League outfits are very keen on his signature, Napoli consider him an integral part of their plans, and they won’t sell for anything less than €80 million.
