Barcelona are very happy with Hansi Flick as their manager, but soon, they will need to start thinking about life after him. The former Bayern Munich and Germany head coach is out of contract in 2027, and it is expected that he will retire from football at the end of the 2026-27 season.
If this does happen, Barcelona would be under pressure to secure the services of a manager that could live up to Flick’s impact. However, one of those that could do so is Luis Enrique, who had a stellar spell in charge between 2014 and 2017.
Luis Enrique guided Paris Saint-Germain to their first-ever Champions League title last season, and although he signed a new deal until 2027 a few months ago, it has now been claimed that the Asturian could return to Barcelona at this time.
As per Sport, journalist Daniel Riolo has claimed that Luis Enrique is thinking about returning to Barcelona when his current PSG deal expires.
“I’m much more critical of those who idolise him than I am of him personally. Honestly, I don’t see the human qualities that he represents. He is 100% Barça. He is someone who changes teams constantly.”

If Flick does leave in the summer of 2027, it would make a lot of sense for Barcelona to go for Luis Enrique as his replacement – especially as he would be able to return free of charge at this time. He’s certainly one of the best managers in world football, as was shown last season.
For now, it remains to be seen whether Luis Enrique, who broke his shoulder back in September, return to Barcelona for a second spell as manager, but if so, it would certainly be celebrated by the vast majority of the club’s supporters.
