Predicted Manchester United lineup against Wolverhampton Wanderers: Jack Fletcher set for full debut; Mount a doubt

Jack Fletcher will make his first start for Manchester United when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Manchester United will aim to build on the narrow and hard-fought win over Newcastle United when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. Ruben Amorim has a new injury concern to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Mason Mount may be the latest absentee after picking up a minor injury last week against Newcastle United. Additionally, Harry Maguire (thigh), Matthijs de Ligt (lower back), Kobbie Mainoo (muscular), and Bruno Fernandes (hamstring) remain in the treatment room.

The Red Devils are also without Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, and Bryan Mbeumo, with the trio representing their national teams at the Africa Cup of Nations. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim provided fitness updates on Maguire, de Ligt, Mainoo, Mount, and Bruno Fernandes.

The Manchester United manager said, “No [Maguire, de Ligt, Mainoo, and Bruno Fernandes will not return against Wolves]. I don’t know how Mase is going to be for that game. I think Kobbie Mainoo is not going to be ready, Bruno is not going to be ready, Matta is not going to be ready, Harry is not going to be ready, so I don’t think we are going to have more players.”

“Bruno is already saying that he needs to train [laughs], but we don’t know. Kobbie Mainoo is going to start on the pitch, also, so we will see. Matta is struggling a little bit, Harry the same thing, so I don’t expect to have the players for this game [against Wolves]. For the other game [against Leeds], I don’t know. There is no chance he is going to play against Wolves, you can write that.”

Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday. The backline will feature Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte in the double pivot, with Jack Fletcher reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Benjamin Sesko will lead the line for the home side against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu completing the numbers in the offensive third.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Dalot, Heaven, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Ugarte; Dorgu, Jack Fletcher, Cunha; Sesko
