Kayserispor in talks to sign Jadel Katongo after Sam Mather deal

Turkish club Kayserispor are in talks to sign Manchester City wonderkid Jadel Katongo after securing the services of Sam Mather.

Kayserispor, who are fighting for survival in the Turkish top flight, are looking at the winter transfer window as an opportunity to add more quality to their squad to increase their chances of avoiding relegation.

The Turkish outfit have already secured the services of Sam Mather from Manchester United, and now, according to Resat Can Ozbudak, Kayserispor are pushing to sign Manchester City defensive sensation Jadel Katongo.

Katongo has been a part of the City youth setup since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at some pace and is currently a part of their Under-21 squad. While he is yet to feature for their first team, he has decent experience at the highest level thanks to his loan spells at Peterborough.

The 21-year-old is finding it very difficult to break into City’s first-team squad; as a result, he is considering parting ways with him. Kayserispor have emerged as a potential destination.

Katongo could join Mather at Kayserispor

The Turkish outfit have already bolstered their attack by signing Mather, and now they want to add more quality to their backline. They consider Katongo an ideal fit for their team, as he can feature as a centre-back as well as a right-back.

They have already initiated talks to sign the 21-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. While he has massive potential, City could still consider parting ways with him as he is unlikely to get into their first team anytime soon.

Meanwhile, a move to the Super Lig could do wonders for the youngster. He will get regular first-team action and the opportunity to showcase his abilities. It could significantly aid his development as a player.

Since Kayserispor have already taken the first step towards his signing, it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming weeks.
