According to Fichajes, Barcelona are the club that Marcos Senesi favours once he leaves Bournemouth in the summer. The experienced Argentine defender is attracting massive interest from within the Premier League, as the likes of Chelsea and Crystal Palace could be dealt a blow in the pursuit of the 28-year-old defender.
Marcos Senesi has taken his chance at Bournemouth following the departures of starting choice defenders Illia Zabarnyi and Dean Huijsen back in the summer. With virtually a new backline in place at the start of the new season, the Argentine has done exceedingly well.
His top-notch displays have helped Bournemouth massively, but the Cherries are likely to be disappointed when the 28-year-old Premier League defender leaves on a free transfer in the summer. Senesi’s contract expires in the summer, with the pathway set for him to join a bigger club in the summer.
Senesi reportedly prefers a switch to Barcelona on a Bosman deal when the summer window opens, with the Catalans seemingly happy to take up the option. The Spanish giants are looking for a top-level defender, and would assess what the 28-year-old Premier League defender could bring to their team in due time.
On a financial level, this is an ideal deal for Barcelona, given their tight situation with money as well as the need to maneuver without spending too much on essential targets. The idea of bringing Senesi would suit their cause, as the Argentine defender may not even demand a massive salary, plus the fact that the 28-year-old Premier League defender wants to make the switch.
Senesi had attracted plenty of interest from some of the Premier League sides, including Chelsea and Crystal Palace, in January. The latter, having lost Mrc Guehi to Manchester City, needed immediate reinforcement in the role, although they could not make advances in the pursuit, as they were thinking about a Bosman move in the summer.
Chelsea considered Senesi as an alternative to Jeremy Jacquet, with the latter agreeing on a summer deal with Liverpool. The idea of adding an experienced defender to the mix, that too on the cheap, either in January or in the summer, would have been in Chelsea’s mind. However, as per Fichajes, should Senesi make his switch to Barcelona, it would come as a bitter blow for the London duo in their pursuit of the Argentine.
