According to a report by Tuttosport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Federico Dimarco is the subject of interest of Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on bolstering their defensive unit by signing a new left-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Inter Milan wide player has emerged as a dream target for them.
However, while the Premier League giants have been “dreaming of him” for a while, a summer move may not materialise, as he is closing in on signing a new contract with Inter Milan. The Milan native is “expected to” sign a deal that will “run until 2029 or 2030” and dash Manchester United’s hopes.
Federico Dimarco has been one of the best players in Serie A since establishing a foothold at Inter Milan. The Milan-born wing-back spent his formative years in his hometown and graduated from the youth division at Inter Milan. However, the 28-year-old had to bide his time before establishing himself as a regular for the first team.
The Italian international has not looked back in recent years, having become a mainstay on the left flank for his club and country. Dimarco has been exceptional in the 2025/26 season thus far, scoring six goals and providing 13 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Manchester United.
Federico Dimarco has been on Manchester United’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, even though Patrick Dorgu has been promising since arriving from US Lecce earlier this year. However, the Danish international may turn into a winger, leaving Luke Shaw as the only recognised left-back at Manchester United.
Dimarco has thus emerged as a viable target for Manchester United, with other Premier League giants also vying for his signature. Interestingly, the Inter Milan wing-back’s strengths may enable him to become a new left winger for Manchester United.
However, while the Premier League heavyweights have been “dreaming of him” for a while, a summer move may not materialise, as he is closing in on signing a new contract with Inter Milan. The 28-year-old Italian international is “expected to” sign a deal that will “run until 2029 or 2030” and dash Manchester United’s hopes. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Dimarco.
