His exit from Stade Rennais made official, Habib Beye has now reached an agreement in principle to join Olympique de Marseille, as per a report from RMC Sport.
Franck Haise’s arrival at Rennes was made official on Wednesday. The former OGC Nice manager succeeds Beye on the bench at Roazhon Park. The latter’s exit had been protracted, with the decision to put the Senegalese manager on leave announced the previous Monday.
Since then, he has become the favourite to succeed Roberto De Zerbi at Marseille. The Italian left the club in the early hours of Tuesday morning. However, Medhi Benatia’s announced exit had looked to complicate the deal, only for Frank McCourt to bring the sporting director back in, even handing the Moroccan greater powers at the expense of Pablo Longoria.
RMC Sport understands that an agreement in principle is now in place between Marseille and Beye, who could be on the bench for Friday’s game against Stade Brestois, if the deal is finalised in time.
