According to VI, Ernst Faber will no longer be combining the role of Technical Director and Head Coach at Heracles. The former Groningen man had been doing so since November, but the sides defeat to fellow relegation strugglers Go Ahead Eagles appears to have put an end to this curious and clearly failed experiment. In his place, Hendrie Krüzen and Peter Reekers will be in charge of training and the head coaching roles.
Having Krüzen back in charge of the first team should fill Heracles fans with a glimmer of hope. The experienced coach had a brief four game spell in charge after Bas Sibum was sacked. Sibum had managed 10 games, losing nine and winning one. Under Krüzen, Heracles didn’t lose, winning three and drawing one. since Faber came in with his joint position, the side have only won once, drawing another and losing eight. Clearly, if the side have any hope of staying up, they need to let Krüzen have full control again.
After their defeat to Go Ahead Eagles this past weekend, Heracles remain bottom of the table with just 17 points from 24 games. Krüzen was responsible for three of their five wins, and if they have any hope of bridging the seven point gap to safety he will have to go on a similar run of form as when he took over earlier in the campaign.
