Following the Champions League draw, the Round of 16 ties have been announced in the Europa and Conference Leagues. Roma will face Bologna, while Fiorentina can’t shake Polish opposition.
Adhering to the 50% chance of an Italian derby, Roma were indeed matched with Bologna for their last-16 tie. The Giallorossi face the Emilians, with the first leg taking place at the Dall’Ara on March 12th. The second leg will commence in the capital at the Olimpico on the 19th.
The victor of this tie faces the winner of Lille-Aston Villa in the quarter-finals.
In the continent’s tertiary competition, Fiorentina could still be haunted by just squeaking past Jagiellonia Bialystok 5-4 on aggregate, after their meagre second-leg showing in the playoffs (2-4). They face another Polish side, and the 2024/25 Ekstraklasa runners-up, Rakow Czestochowa.
Rakow play in Soznowiec at the Zaglebiowski Park Sportowy, near Katowice. This is because the stadium in Częstochowa is too small.
In the quarter-finals, the winner of AEK Larnaca vs Crystal Palace awaits. On the other side of the draw, it’s Strasbourg vs Rijeka.
