Julian Nagelsmann keen on Manchester United job

Julian Nagelsmann would reportedly be interested in taking over at Manchester United in the event of a serious offer landing on his table.

According to Team Talk, Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly interested in taking over the Manchester United job if the opportunity comes along in a more serious way. The German national team manager is a candidate for the Old Trafford job, which has seen plenty of names being linked, including current interim boss Michael Carrick.

All eyes will be on the Manchester United dugout, and on who the club appoint as their next manager. A host of names are being linked with the club, including current interim boss Michael Carrick, after his impressive start to life since Ruben Amorim’s departure.

Carrick is not seen as a favourite for the job, but is a contender nonetheless, especially if he steers Manchester United back into the Champions League. The Red Devils are currently sitting in third heading into the next matchday, as they are one of the favourites to finish behind the top two in the division.

Manchester United are still considering Carrick for the full-time role, but are not ready to make a rushed decision on their next manager. Hence, there will be links to others, which also include Borussia Dortmund boss Niko Kovac.

The other more prominent name is Julian Nagelsmann, with the Germany national team boss previously linked with Manchester United when Amorim left the role. The former Bayern Munich boss is a firm name in contention, and it appears he might be keen on the role.

Will Julian Nagelsmann Take Over at Manchester United?

Nagelsmann could consider a switch if there was a serious offer on the table from Manchester United. The 38-year-old, highly-rated manager might see the Old Trafford role as an important yet risky step up in his career, but if the club are serious about him, they must negotiate compensation with Germany.

For the time being, Nagelsmann is eager to focus on his task with Germany ahead of the World Cup. He is tied to a contract until the conclusion of Euro 2028, which does make it tricky to lure him away now. It remains to be seen whether Nagelsmann is willing to cut short his stay with the national side if Manchester United come calling in the summer.
