Max Allegri responds to Real Madrid talk: “I’m happy at Milan”

Serie A giants Milan have seen Max Allegri get linked with a move to Real Madrid over the last week or so. The Italian has now responded to speculation about his long-term future.

Reports have claimed that Allegri will discuss his future with the Rossoneri towads the end of the campaign. A lot will depend on whether he is handed a central role in the club’s project or not and he is also seeking a major say in planning and transfers from next season onwards.

While this will be key towards his stay, Allegri was asked about Real Madrid ahead of the Rossoneri’s big clash against Inter on Sunday.

He said: “I have a contract with Milan until 2027. The future is tomorrow and then next Sunday. I’m fine at Milan, I’m very happy. We started a new path in July and the club is working well, but until the objective is reached we must remain in the present.”

Allegri clarified that the club’s goal for the season is to seal qualification for the Champions League, denying talk of a late title charge.

“We haven’t achieved anything, this must be clear to everyone. Only Champions League qualification matters.”

This should come as a sigh of relief for Milan fans, who saw their side in a possible title race as recently as some weeks ago. That challenge didn’t last long but it took them over four months to lose a league game after the opening day loss to Cremonese.

That indeed is a sign of progress, especially considering how last season progressed.
