Lens’s Wesley Saïd set to join Al-Shamal next season

According to a report from L’Équipe, Wesley Saïd (30) has agreed to leave RC Lens at the end of his contract this season and join Qatari side Al-Shamal SC. The forward has reportedly signed a contract that will keep him in the Middle East for the next two seasons, with an option for an extra season.

Despite finally living up to the promise in Lens that has always been attached to the former Stade Rennais academy product, he’ll be moving on to a new challenge.

Saïd has been an integral part of Lens’s impressive season, which sees the club sat second in the table and only one point behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, albeit the capital side have a game in hand. Saïd has already registered his best goal scoring season in the top flight, having scored ten times and two assists.

The forward is currently out injured after picking up a hamstring injury. Les Sang et Or are set to play Lille OSC following the international break in the Derby du Nord
