The Spanish national team have on Sunday announced the departure of a leading member of the country’s midfield ranks from their latest camp.
The player in question? Martín Zubimendi.
Midfielder Zubimendi for his part featured off the bench in Spain’s latest outing during the week, playing his part in an eventual 3-0 victory over Serbia.
Luis de la Fuente’s squad have since kicked back into gear their March training camp, ahead of another friendly fixture this coming week, against Egypt.
As alluded to above, though, Zubimendi will play no part.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Spanish national team on Sunday, the Arsenal standout has picked up a problem in his right knee:
‘Martín Zubimendi has withdrawn from the Spanish national team camp due to discomfort in his right knee. To avoid any risk and to protect the player’s health, he has been removed from the squad. Arsenal FC’s medical staff have been informed of the situation.’
