Stade Brestois sporting director Grégory Lorenzi is in talks to become OGC Nice’s new sporting director, according to a report from Nice-Matin.
Sporting director of Brest since 2016, Lorenzi has, with limited means, taken Les Brestois from relegation strugglers to a team that recently competed in the UEFA Champions League. This season, Brest are once again working on a budget but are comfortably midtable, even though recent results will likely prevent them from working their way into European contention.
However, he could be on the move in the summer. There has been plenty of upheaval at Nice in recent months and Florian Maurice could be the next to depart. L’Équipe understands that Maurice is almost certain to depart at the end of the season. Within that context, Lorenzi is currently in talks with Nice about the sporting director role. The Frenchman’s 10-year spell with Les Ty-Zéfs could, therefore, be coming to an end.
