Chelsea join Manchester United, Liverpool in Angelo Stiller race

Chelsea have entered the race to sign VfB Stuttgart midfield mainstay Angelo Stiller, set to battle rivals Liverpool and Manchester United.

Angelo Stiller has been a consistent performer for VfB Stuttgart over the years. The German international is enjoying another impressive season in the Bundesliga, and it has resulted in a lot of interest from England in particular.

Chelsea are going after Angelo Stiller’s signature

According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea have now joined Manchester United and Liverpool in their pursuit of the 26-year-old. The Blues seem quite serious about securing his services and are beleived to have already positioned themselves as front runners.

The London club are willing to fork out around €50 million as they look to beat the competition to his signature. Their interest in his services might have a lot to do with the uncertain future of Enzo Fernadez, who was recently handed a two-game ban for talking about living in Madrid amidst interest from Real Madrid.

Even if Fernandez continues at Stamford Bridge, they could still go after Stiller, as he is an ideal fit for their project. Not only is he an exceptional defensive-minded player, but the 26-year-old is capable enough to do wonders as a deep-lying playmaker.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also in the mix

The Blues have regularly sent scouts to Stuttgart to watch the German international in action. While Manchester United and Liverpool have also enquired about the defensive midfielder, the London club are believed to have an advantage in the race.

Their offer will include a significant pay hike for the 26-year-old. They could offer him €9 million, which will double the player’s current wages. At United, he could help replace Casemiro and become one of the cornerstones of their new project.

Meanwhile, Liverpool seek more competition in the centre of the park for Ryan Gravenberch. Stiller will not only rival him, but his arrival could also allow the Reds to use the Dutch international in more advanced roles. However, both United and Liverpool are currently behind Chelsea in the race.

As far as Stuttgart are concerned, they have accepted that it will be difficult to keep him at the club beyond. They certainly won’t mind a big-money move, having signed him for just €5.5 million. Even if they sell the €60 million-rated star for €50 million, they will be making a profit of over 700%.
