Bayern Munich eye move for Xavi Simons

Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Xavi Simons, with his Tottenham future in significant doubt.

Xavi Simons was supposed to be a transformative signing for Spurs when they beat Chelsea in the race for the Dutch midfielder. However, his future could be in significant doubt, as an exit appears to be on the cards. Fussballdaten reports that Bayern Munich are interested in signing the attacker.

Xavi Simons was in a terrible mood at the end of Tottenham’s home draw to Brighton following Giorginio Rutter’s late goal to level the game. The Dutchman felt he had scored a sensational winning goal, but that was not to be, as the result cast further doubt on their relegation prospects.

With a potential relegation on the cards, Tottenham could be bracing for star departures, including summer signing Simons. The attacker could be evaluating his options should Spurs continue to plunge towards the drop.

He will have no shortage of interest in the market, as Bayern Munich are the latest to enter the frame. The Bavarians are reportedly considering him as an addition to the left-hand side of their front three, which currently features the formidable Luis Díaz, with Serge Gnabry also often playing in that role.

Bayern Munich are already in the market looking for an attacker on that side of the pitch, especially following their links to Anthony Gordon. The idea of signing Xavi Simons makes sense, given the kind of price he would command in the summer.

Tottenham to lose Xavi Simons?

Simons could be headed back to Germany should Bayern Munich make their interest more serious. There are other suitors — with Barcelona keen on the attacker — but a return to the Bundesliga could make for a comfortable transition.

Bayern were interested last summer, with the price being the stumbling block. Should Spurs suffer relegation, there could be a chance for the Bavarians to win the race at a reduced price point, taking advantage of Tottenham’s misfortune, which could prove to be the ideal moment for the German giants to make their move.
