Crystal Palace interested in Nantes’ Matthis Abline

The transfer window has yet to open, however, there has already been a bid submitted for Matthis Abline (23) and interest from other suitors is growing, as per a report from Foot Mercato.

Abline was heavily coveted last summer, notably by Wolverhampton Wanderers and Paris FC. However, in light of Nantes’ significant demands, a fee in the region of €50m, the Frenchman remained at the Beaujoire.

However, Abline could not keep Nantes in Ligue 1 this season. Despite his eight goals, the club will play in Ligue 2 next season. AS Monaco smelt a scent of opportunity and, as per L’Équipe, have submitted a bid of around €15m, without bonuses. That bid has been rejected. Nantes, despite relegation, will not let him leave on the cheap.

Competition will help drive up the price and there are several suitors, notably Paris FC, who could renew their interest, whilst Crystal Palace and AS Roma are also in the race to sign the centre-forward.
