AJ Auxerre have relieved head coach Christophe Pélissier of his duties, according to L’Equipe. Pélissier successfully steered the Yonne side our of the relegation zone with back-to-back wins to conclude the Ligue 1 season, against Nice and Lille. Despite the achievement of retaining Auxerre’s Ligue 1 status on a shoestring budget, Pélissier has been informed that he won’t see out his contract, which was due to expire in 2027.
Pélissier was reportedly at odds with Auxerre Sporting Director David Wantier, and the club’s owner, James Zhou, seemed to have sided with the latter. Nevertheless, Wantier’s job may not be safe too. To replace Pélissier, L’Equipe understands that former RC Lens and Southampton head coach Will Still has been touted as his potential successor.
