Crystal Palace target Pierre Sage informs Lens of departure

Pierre Sage, the subject of strong interest from Crystal Palace, has informed RC Lens that he will leave the club, as per a report from RMC Sport.

Last season, in what now looks like being his only season at the club, Sage led Lens to a second-place finish in Ligue 1, whilst also winning the Coupe de France. It is the first time in the club’s history that they have won the trophy.

However, in the wake of that win at the Stade de France, Sage has alluded to a potential departure, revealing interest from other clubs, as well as revealing a dream of managing Liverpool. As per The Athletic, the Frenchman does feature on the Merseyside club’s shortlist to replace Arne Slot, although Andoni Iraola is on the verge of taking the position at Anfield.

It is Crystal Palace, who will lose Oliver Glasner, who have shown the greatest interest, and amid this interest, Sage has informed Lens that he will be leaving the club. However, RMC Sport adds that Crystal Palace are not the only interested party. Foot Mercato report interest from the Middle East. Lens are already in the market for a replacement.
