AJ Auxerre have officially parted ways with head coach Christophe Pélissier. The Frenchman had a year remaining on his contract, but he has been let go by club owner, Chinese businessman James Zhou. Despite securing Auxerre’s Ligue 1 status for the second season in a row, the experienced Pélissier has been dismissed.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Christophe Pelissier and his staff and thank them for their hard work. By enabling AJA to return to the top flight and remain there, Christophe Pelissier and his assistants have played a key role in consolidating the club during a period of rebuilding”, Zhou said in Auxerre’s press release. Club president Baptiste Malherbe acknowledged Pélissier’s record at Auxerre over the course of four seasons, which includes a Ligue 1 promotion in 2024.
Free agent Will Still is expected to succeed Pélissier in the dugout, L’Equipe reports. The Anglo-Belgian head coach has reportedly reached an agreement with the Yonne side.
