Manchester City have signed Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli (34), both clubs have announced. City have identified the Argentina international as their preferred option to become Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy following James Trafford’s departure for Leeds United.
Enzo Maresca’s Cityzens reached a €3,8m agreement with Les Phocéens to sign the former Montpellier and Villarreal goalkeeper. Rulli has signed a two-year deal and will wear the No. 28 jersey for the Premier League side.
Rulli joined Marseille in the summer of 2024 and has since made 73 appearances for OM. After a remarkable debut season under the tutelage of Roberto De Zerbi, Rulli’s level considerably dipped last year. To replace Rulli, Marseille have identified Neom’s Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka. The Ligue 1 side submitted a loan offer to their SPL counterparts.
