Lyon agree loan deal for AC Milan’s Youssouf Fofana

Olympique Lyonnais have agreed a deal to sign AC Milan midfielder Youssouf Fofana (27), according to a report from RMC Sport.

Fofana joined AC Milan from AS Monaco for a €26m transfer fee back in the summer of 2024. He went on to feature 88 times for I Rossoneri. There had been competition for the France international’s signature (including from Hull City), however, it is OL who now look to have secured a deal in the closing stages of the transfer window. RMC Sport understands that he will join on a season-long loan. Les Gones will pay a loan fee of €2m to the Serie A giants, whilst the Ligue 1 side also have the option to make the deal permanent for a €12m come the end of the season.

One Fofana in, another out. With the French midfielder on the verge of joining, Malick looks to be on the way out. Crystal Palace look to have hijacked Sunderland’s bid for the Belgium international. Ainsley Maitland-Niles also looks set to leave Lyon to join Everton.
