Arsenal make approach for Evan Ndicka, Newcastle United also keen

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have enquired about the availability of Newcastle United defensive target Evan Ndicka.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Siamo la Roma, Evan Ndicka could end up securing a move to the Premier League as his impressive performances for AS Roma have put him on the radar of Arsenal as well as Newcastle United.

The Gunners have already enquired about him, while the Magpies are also very keen on signing him as they seek more depth and quality at the back.

Ndicka had made a name for himself while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt. The 25-year-old central defender’s consistent performances had put him on the radar of multiple top clubs but he eventually ended up joining AS Roma on a free transfer in 2023.

He managed to establish himself in their first team in no time and has played the most minutes in Serie A for them this season. He has been involved in a total of 47 matches across competitions and has even contributed towards three goals.

Arsenal and Newcastle are keen on signing Ndicka

The Ivorian international has been a rock at the back for them and his performances have put him on the radar of Arsenal and Newcastle, who are both keen on adding more quality and depth to their defence.

While Mikel Arteta has a solid defensive pairing in Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, along with dependable backups, he is still keen on adding another world-class defender to his ranks. With Saliba’s long-term future uncertain, Ndicka could prove to be a valuable addition.

The Gunners have already made a move as they have knocked on the doors of Roma to learn more about a potential transfer. Meanwhile, the Magpies could rival them as they are also massive admirers of the 25-year-old.

With Dan Burn and Fabian Schar not getting any younger, Eddie Howe wants to add a young central defender to his squad and Ndicka is considered an ideal fit for his system and their project. The Ivorian international is valued at between €30 to €40 million which could prove to be a bargain price for someone of his quality. As a result, it is certainly one to keep an eye on.
