Manchester City ponder hijacking Liverpool move for Milos Kerkez

Manchester City will likely compete with Liverpool to sign 21-year-old Hungarian international Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Milos Kerkez is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Bournemouth left-back is also a target for Liverpool. However, the Reds face a hijack from City for the Hungarian international, with the Cherries demanding at least £40 million to part ways with the highly-rated full-back.

The rise and rise of Milos Kerkez

Milos Kerkez has seen his stock skyrocket since joining Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023. The Serbia-born full-back hit the ground running at the Premier League club and has come leaps and bounds in the last two seasons at the Vitality Stadium.

The 21-year-old has turned out 70 times thus far for Bournemouth while chipping in with two goals and eight assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. So, Kerkez’s spell with the Cherries may end in the summer transfer window.

However, a move across the Premier League is the likeliest scenario for the Hungarian international despite his links with Real Madrid. Liverpool and Manchester City are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window, with the latter ready to steal a march on the newly-crowned Premier League champions.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Recent reports have suggested that Liverpool will likely win the race to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window. With Andrew Robertson blowing hot and cold in the last 12 months, the Reds need an alternative to the Scottish international. So, Kerkez is a viable target, with Liverpool viewing Bournemouth’s asking price of £40 million as a fair valuation.

Manchester City will have no qualms about coughing up at least £40 million to sign Kerkez, either. Pep Guardiola is keen on signing a top-class left-back in the summer transfer window after using Josko Gvardiol as a left-back in the last two seasons. So, Kerkez is an option worth considering, with Manchester City ready to steal a march on Liverpool for his signature.

While Bournemouth will demand at least £40 million to part ways with the 21-year-old Hungarian international, they will unlikely keep hold of the youngster beyond the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if Manchester City can hijack Liverpool’s move for Kerkez.
