According to Football Insider, Bournemouth are confident of holding on to Andoni Iraola beyond the summer window and keeping him at the club., Tottenham are showing massive interest in the Spaniard as they are looking to replace Ange Postecoglou in the managerial hotseat.
Andoni Iraola has done a fabulous job despite the early wobbles in his time at Bournemouth. When taking over the club from Gary O’Neil in the summer of 2023, the Spaniard did not have the best of starts, although he has barely looked back since making progress with his players.
With four games remaining in the season, Bournemouth are still with the chance to make it to one of the European places, possibly the Conference League spot as the Premier League could potentially have nine teams in Europe next season. Irrespective of whether the Cherries make it into continental football, Iraola is seen as indispensable by the club’s board.
Tottenham are one of the clubs highly interested in Iraola as they seek a replacement for Ange Postecoglou. Spurs have one foot into the Europa League Final after their win over Bodo/Glimt in the semifinal, as winning the competition could bring Champions League football back to the club. Irrespective of whether they win the Final, the club are expected to part ways with the Australian following a dismal season.
Iraola is seen as one of the major candidates to replace Postecoglou, although there’s a big fight for Spurs to get the Spaniard. Iraola could potentially reject Tottenham to stay with Bournemouth, as the club are confident of keeping hold of their manager.
Despite the high-profile interest from Tottenham, Bournemouth are hoping they have enough firepower to keep hold of Iraola beyond the summer. Talks have been planned with the Spaniard over a new deal, which he certainly deserves after all the good work put into the squad.
The current indications firmly point towards a stay for Iraola at the Vitality Stadium beyond the summer. He could sign a new deal and kill Tottenham’s hopes to lure him in, as the north Londoners might have to look at other names with Marco Siva, Thomas Frank and Oliver Glasner among those linked.
