Southampton considering Jesurun Rak-Sakyi move

Southampton are angling for a summer move for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace after an impressive season in the Championship.

According to The Sun, Southampton are plotting a move for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi heading into the summer after failing to sign the attacker last time around. The winger is coming at the back of an impressive season in the Championship while being on loan at Sheffield United from Crystal Palace.

The future of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi remains up in the air as he prepares to make a return to Crystal Palace from his impressive loan spell at Sheffield United. The 22-year-old whizkid has shown plenty of promise, which saw Southampton make a move for him last summer but failed with a £5 million bid as per reports.

The Saints offered £5 million plus add-ons, but Crystal Palace deemed it as a low offer and may have had some justification for their decision. While the youngster clearly does not have a future at Selhurst Park, Oliver Glasner might still test him out during pre-season.

After the Saints failed with a move last summer, Crystal Palace agreed to loan him to Championship side Sheffield United, who were fresh from their relegation from the Premier League. It could be a similar situation for Rak-Sakyi this time, as Southampton are back in the mix for the winger.

Following an impressive season with Sheffield United, who can still be a hero for them should they make it back to the Premier League via the Playoffs. The Blades might even consider keeping him in the team and broker a deal with Palace if they make it back to the top flight. However, the Saints are ready to rival and make a case to take the winger in the summer.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to replace Tyler Dibling?

Given that Rak-Sakyi and Tyler Dibling play in a similar position, it is safe to assume Southampton are seeking the 22-year-old whizkid to replace their existing wonderkid. Tottenham are among the suitors for Dibling, as the Saints are expected to demand a hefty price for their attacker.

Any decision will be Rak-Sakyi’s and Crystal Palace’s as things could still change for the winger in the summer. Should Southampton offer guarantees of first-team action and if that’s not the case elsewhere including Selhurst Park, the 22-year-old might consider remaining in the Championship. However, any move will also depend on Palace’s asking price and how Sheffield United feel about the situation if they are promoted.
