According to a report by the Mexican version of Ole, Rodrigo Huescas is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old FC Copenhagen full-back has emerged as a target for the East London club.
Rodrigo Huescas is the latest highly-rated prospect from his homeland to rise in prominence. A native of Naucalpan de Juarez, the North American full-back spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Cruz Azul. However, the youngster has risen in prominence since moving abroad.
The 21-year-old joined FC Copenhagen from CD Cruz Azul last summer and has come leaps and bounds in the ongoing campaign. Huescas has turned out 31 times thus far for the Danish outfit while chipping in with one goal and two assists. The player’s progress has helped him break into his national squad.
Meanwhile, Huescas has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe with his exploits for his club and country. West Ham United will be among the prospective suitors vying for the signature of the Mexican international heading into the summer transfer window.
West Ham United’s interest in Rodrigo Huescas is understandable. While Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been excellent since arriving from Manchester United last summer, Graham Potter wants more firepower from the right-back berth. With Vladimir Coufal on the wrong side of 30 and facing an uncertain future at the London Stadium, West Ham can do with a new right-back.
So, several candidates, including Nicolo Savona, have emerged on West Ham’s radar, with Huescas also a viable target. The Naucalpan de Juarez native will find a familiar face at the East London outfit, with his compatriot Edson Alvarez also at the club.
So, the Hammers might have an ace up their sleeve when they pursue the 21-year-old Mexican international in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if the highly-rated FC Copenhagen full-back joins West Ham in the coming months.
