Barcelona win race to sign Roony Bardghji

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have reportedly won the race for the services of Chelsea and Tottenham attacking target Roony Bardghji.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Roony Bardghji is set to join Barcelona as they have managed to beat the competition to his signature. Hansi Flick’s team have a verbal agreement in place, and a deal should be completed next week.

Bardghji joined Copenhagen’s youth setup at the start of 2020. He went up the ranks at some pace and was already playing first-team football in 2022. Over the years, he has only gone from strength to strength and is widely regarded as one of the best young forwards in the world.

The 19-year-old Swedish sensation could have been on the move last summer, but he suffered an ACL injury in April, which kept him out of action for almost a year. With the teenage sensation back fit, clubs have been battling out for his signature.

Tottenham and Chelsea fail to sign Roony Bardghji

As per a report from TBR Football, Tottenham and Chelsea are two English clubs who have been interested in signing the young winger, dubbed ‘Swedish Messi’. Both clubs are constantly looking for young prospects with massive potential, and Bardghji is certainly an ideal fit for their project.

Spurs, who beat Barcelona to the signature of Lucas Bergvall, were keen on pulling off something similar in this instance as well. The North London seek more quality and depth on the flanks, and the Swedish international could have certainly helped their cause.

However, Roony Bardghji had his heart set on a move to Barcelona as soon as he learned about them holding talks to sign him. While Tottenham were aware of it, they were still keen on trying their luck. Even Chelsea had him on their wishlist.

The Blues constantly look to sign the best young players, and he was certainly right up there on their list. But both Chelsea and Tottenham have suffered defeat, as there is an agreement in place for the 19-year-old to join Barcelona this summer.

Bardghji to join Barcelona next week

The Spanish giants did a medical check on Roony Bardghji and once they received reports that his knee was fine, they decided to table an offer for him. After weeks of negotiations, Barcelona have a verbal agreement in place, and the deal should get over the line next week.

The reigning La Liga chamions will pay €2 million as a fixed fee plus add-ons. FC Copenhagen will have a significant sell-on clause, and the youngster will be signing a long-term deal.
