The Dutch shot-stopper has shown his quality in the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion, and he has the ability to compete at a higher level. The opportunity to move to Tottenham or Newcastle United could be exciting for him as well. However, Bayern will offer UEFA Champions League football, giving him the incentive to accept their bid.
Bayern Munich will be able to provide him with the platform to fight for league titles and the UEFA Champions League. On the other hand, Tottenham and Newcastle United are going through a period of transition. Even though they have exciting projects, the opportunity to join the German champions will simply be far more attractive for the goalkeeper.
Bayern Munich have enjoyed an impressive season so far, and they will look to further strengthen the team in the summer to continue dominating German football and do well in the UEFA Champions League as well. Signing one of the brightest young goalkeepers in the Premier League would be a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, Guglielmo Vicario and Antonin Kinsky have been quite error-prone for Tottenham, and they need an upgrade. The Dutch goalkeeper would have been an excellent option for them. On the other hand, Newcastle United need a quality long-term replacement for Nick Pope, while Aaron Ramsdale may have no future at St. James’ Park beyond this season. If Verbruggen ends up in Germany, they will need to look at other options in the summer.
