Tottenham considering Francesco Farioli swoop

Tottenham are plotting a move for Ajax boss Francesco Farioli as they weigh up the possibility of parting ways with Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham could end up parting ways with Ange Postecoglou at the end of the season and they have already started looking at potential candidates who can replace him. According to a report from TEAMtalk, Spurs have their eyes set on Ajax’s Francesco Farioli, who has done wonders at the Dutch club.

Farioli made a name for himself at OGC Nice and on the back of his work, he ended up joining Ajax last summer. The 36-year-old has certainly had a massive impact on the Eredivisie outfit. They have won 34 out of the 53 matches he has led them in.

Ajax were nine points clear at the top in mid-April but a poor run of results has seen them go down to second on the table. They are now one point behind PSV with a game to go. Despite the dip in form of the Dutch club, Farioli is still seen as one of the most promising young managers in the world.

Tottenham to sack Postecoglou?

There is no shortage of interest in his services and Tottenham have emerged as a potential destination for him. The North London club have started to look for a new manager as they consider parting ways with Ange Postecoglou.

While the Australian manager worked wonders in his first season in charge, this season has been a stark contrast. Tottenham currently sit 17th in the league, and their only hope of salvaging a disappointing campaign lies in winning the Europa League, where they are set to face Manchester United in the final.

Winning the Europa League would represent their first major title since 2008 but even that can’t guarantee Postecoglou’s continuity at the club. The North London club are not happy with the overall work of the Australian manager and they are considering sacking him once the season comes to an end, although Daniel Levy is yet to make a final decision.

Farioli could be the next Tottenham boss

They will most likely take a call after the Europa League final but have already started looking for potential replacements. Fabio Paratici, who continues to work for Spurs from behind the scenes despite being banned by FIFA, is the one who has recommended Farioli’s name to Tottenham.

They view him as the ideal candidate to take the club forward, thanks to his attacking and aggressive brand of football. Crucially, his modern tactical approach aligns well with Tottenham’s long-term vision and could be a strong fit for the North London outfit. Farioli is at the top of their wishlist and Spurs consider his €5 million release clause as affordable.
