Manchester United ready to pay Moise Kean release clause

Manchester United are reportedly ready to pay the release clause in Moise Kean’s contract, as Ruben Amorim eyes a prolific striker in the summer.

According to Sport Mediaset, Manchester United are open to paying Moise Kean’s release clause, which stands at €52 million, ahead of the summer. Ruben Amorim wants a new striker in place for next season as their chase of the Italian striker could be the consequence of missing out on Champions League football.

Manchester United have ended their Premier League season in 15th place following a 2-0 win at home against ten-man Aston Villa. The Red Devils have had a truly embarrassing season on all fronts, as they even lost the Europa League Final to Tottenham earlier in the week, which ensured they missed out on Champions League football and the additional revenue the competition brings.

With speculation surrounding their finances rife at the moment, the report states Ruben Amorim has a £100 million transfer kitty to spend on new players. There could be a case that additional funds from player sales could also be used on new signings, as the Portuguese manager does see the need to strengthen several positions in his squad.

A centre-forward is high on the club’s transfer agenda, with names like Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres already linked. While the former is still an achievable target from a financial sense, the latter could be seen as an expensive target for the kind of funds available at Amorim’s disposal.

Manchester United were also linked with Moise Kean, and as per the report, they are ready to pay his €52 million release clause. The Italian star has had a productive season with Fiorentina, with 27 goals and assists to his name this season. He has seen many clubs interested in signing him, as Fiorentina potentially missing out on European football altogether could see them cash in.

Is Moise Kean suited to Manchester United?

The 27 goals and assists resurgent Italian international has many other suitors, with Newcastle United another team chasing the Viola star. However, the idea of Manchester United may appeal to the players if they are proposing a serious contract and project.

Kean’s €52 million release clause could be seen as reasonable by Manchester United ahead of the summer, as he’s certainly a much better striker than the likes of Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee, as his numbers speak volumes. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils prioritise a move for the 27 G/A resurgent Italian international or move for someone else like Delap or Gyokeres in the upcoming window.
