According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester City have opened talks to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri, but they will face competition from Liverpool and Manchester United for the Algerian international.
It is no surprise that Manchester City are keen on signing him. The 23-year-old is a proven performer in the Premier League, and he could be an excellent acquisition for them. Manchester City do not have a quality left-back at their disposal, and they had to rely on youngsters and makeshift central defenders.
Signing a reliable left-back should be a priority for them heading into the summer transfer window. The Algerian international is certainly one of the best in his role in the Premier League, and he will help improve at both ends of the pitch. Ait-Nouri is exceptional going forward, and he could add a new dimension to the Manchester City attack. The player has 12 goal contributions this season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool could use a quality left-back to replace Andrew Robertson as well. The Scottish international has blown hot and cold of late, and he is no longer the player he used to be. However, Liverpool have been linked with Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth as well. The Reds are unlikely to sign two left-backs this summer, and therefore, it will be interesting to see if they end up with Ait-Nouri or Kerkez.
As far as Manchester United are concerned, they need an upgrade on Luke Shaw this summer. The English defender has been quite disappointing, and he needs to be replaced. He has struggled with persistent problems since the move to Old Trafford as well. It would be ideal for him to move on and start fresh.
Manchester United need to get rid of their fringe players and improve the squad during the summer transfer window. Signing one of the finest wing-backs in the Premier League would be a huge boost for them.
It will be interesting to see which of the three clubs can get the deal done. They have the resources to convince wolves with a lucrative proposal. The Wolves wing-back will want to join an ambitious club capable of winning trophies, and the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool could be more attractive destinations for him.
